Asal Ku is a family tree app run by Code Village Solutions (“we”, “us”). A family tree holds details about real people, living and passed away, so we keep this policy short and plain. It says what we keep, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it.
1. What we keep
About you (the account holder):
- Your name, email address and profile picture from the way you sign in (Google, or a passkey on your device), when you last signed in, and a record of the agreements you accepted and when.
- If you set up fingerprint or face sign-in, a passkey key for your device. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your device.
About the people in your trees (this is what you add):
- Names, dates, relationships and any other details you choose to add, such as contact, residence, hobbies or education.
- Pictures, audio and video in a person's gallery, with captions and dates, and the boxes you tap to say who is in a picture.
- Which person you marked as “This is me”, your tree settings, and a short undo history.
Technical information: ordinary server records such as your IP address, the time and what was asked for, kept to run and protect the service. If you join our waiting list on the website, we keep the email address you give.
2. Why we use it
To run Asal Ku: to sign you in, show your trees, store your pictures, share what you choose to share, and keep the service safe. We do not sell your information, we do not show advertising, and we do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
3. Pictures and people in pictures
Asal Ku does not do face recognition and does not know who anyone is. “Find people” draws boxes around people using a finder that runs on your phone; the picture is not sent anywhere for this, and nothing it finds is kept except a box you tap and confirm, which is saved as a tag.
Relationship names are worked out from the tree you built. They are a helpful guide and may be wrong.
4. Who can see it
- Only you, and the people you give access to as owner, manager or viewer. Nobody else can open your tree.
- When you share a tree or connect a person to another tree, you choose what is shown (for example photo, full name, dates, gallery). People you share with can see, and could copy, what you show them: share with care.
- Our staff can reach the data only as needed to run, fix or protect the service.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Google
- If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email and picture. Google’s own policy covers what Google does.
- If you choose to bring in pictures from Google Photos or Google Drive, you pick them in Google’s own window and we receive only what you pick. Your Google access is used for that one purpose and is not stored. Deleting a copy in Asal Ku does not delete anything at Google, and the other way round. Our use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use rules.
- The page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google may see that your device asked for them.
6. Where it is kept, how long, and safety
- Your information is kept on servers run by us or our hosting provider, which may be in another country from yours.
- We keep it while your account exists. When you delete a person, their files wait two days so Undo can bring them back, then they are removed. Copies may stay in backups for a limited time.
- We use sign-in tokens, encrypted connections and access checks. No system is perfectly safe, so tell us at once if you think your account was used by someone else.
7. Your choices and rights
You can see and change what you added, delete people, trees and pictures, remove access you gave, and withdraw an agreement in Settings. You may also ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it. Email support@codevillagesolutions.com and we will answer within a reasonable time. You may also complain to your country’s data protection authority.
8. Children and people who have passed away
Asal Ku is for adults (18 or older, or the age of majority where you live). If you add details or pictures of a child, you should have a parent or guardian’s agreement. Ask before adding someone’s details or photo, and respect a family’s wish to remove them. If you are the person in someone’s tree and want something changed or removed, write to us and we will help.
9. Counting visits and use
To learn what helps people and what does not, we count visits to this website, the training guide and the app, and which features are used. This is done without cookies, and we do not keep your IP address. On the websites, a visit is counted under a random code made from your connection and browser that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
In the app, the pages you open and the features you use are counted against your account, so we can see how many people keep using Asal Ku from week to week. The counts never contain what you write or add: no names, pictures or details. Nothing is counted if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Counts are kept for 13 months, and only the administrator can see the totals.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies. Questions or requests: support@codevillagesolutions.com.
